The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has reached a tentative agreement with the major film studios and streaming platforms. After 148 days on strike, American screenwriters returned to work last Wednesday.
Netflix is not only a platform for films and series, it is also a platform for games. A few weeks ago, the undisputed leader in video streaming started the first public tests of cloud streaming games.
After Netflix's introduction of a password sharing crackdown, the platform was expected to see a drop in popularity. However, the opposite has happened and the most popular streaming platform is making huge profits in the US.
According to the Nielsen report, linear and cable TV reached a record low share of total viewing in July (together only 49.6% - less than half of the TV market share).
Disney's Q2 financial report, presented by CEO Bob Iger, clearly showed the company's problems. The profitable linear TV model is in rapid decline and its replacement, streaming, is 'burning through' the cash.
